I often hear from my clients—as much as they love their brows—they truly didn’t know how much they needed their lips tattooed until they finally caved!
Lip blush is a cosmetic tattoo meant to heal like a tinted Chapstick, giving you the perfect flush of color, but never being too much.
It’s not as scary as you think, I promise! Topical numbing is used before the tattoo is started, as well as a numbing gel used throughout the procedure. I love to put on a podcast for my clients and I while I perform the tattoo so they are ultra comfortable and their mind is elsewhere—this is where my clients have a tendency to fall asleep!

Lip blush typically lasts 2–3 years, though it varies based on your skin, lifestyle, and how well you follow the aftercare instructions. Sun exposure, skincare products with active ingredients, and your body’s natural fading rate all play a role. I recommend a touch-up appointment to keep your color looking fresh — ask me about timing at your consultation here in Salem.
It’s not as scary as you think, I promise! Topical numbing is applied before we start, plus a numbing gel throughout the procedure, so most clients are surprised by how comfortable it is. I also put on a fun podcast we can listen to together during the appointment so you can relax — a lot of my Salem clients actually end up dozing off.
Come in with clean, bare lips — no lipstick, lip liner, or lip balm with active ingredients the day of your appointment. Avoid blood thinners, alcohol, and excessive caffeine for at least 24 hours beforehand, since these can increase swelling and bleeding during the procedure. If you get cold sores, let me know in advance so we can plan for a preventive antiviral. Healing happens in stages:
- expect slight swelling and brighter color in the first couple of days,
- some flaking and color softening through days 3–5,
- and the color settling into its true, healed shade by about 30 days.
- Full internal healing takes about 4 weeks.
I’ll send you home with an aftercare kit and clear instructions so healing goes smoothly.
